Match Report

Result: Won by 7 wickets

We travelled to Grantham to play Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School in the County Final. Sophie won the 'rock paper scissors' challenge and asked Grantham to bat first. They made quite a good start, scoring 22 off the first two overs. We then bowled a little better and started to restrict the run rate. Kitty got the first wicket and Sophie, Poppy and particularly Florence bowled very well, picking up four more wickets. Florence bowled the last over and did not concede a run, meaning Grantham finished on 54-5 after eight overs.

It was soon clear that Grantham had some good bowlers and we found scoring difficult. We only had five runs after the first two overs, meaning we needed another 50 from the last six! Sophie and Amelia started running byes to the wicketkeeper, which proved very effective and increased the scoring rate. Both Sophie and Amelia retired after scoring 15 so Charlotte and Florence continued the good work. We needed 14 off the last 12 balls, but a good 7th over meant only one was needed from the last over, which we got off the first ball.

County Champions and we now represent Lincolnshire in the area finals at Cambridge University on Monday 22nd April.
