Leicester Grammar School U12 Rugby Sevens Tournament - CONFIRMED

Delighted to have been given a place at this U12 Tournament following our attendance as an U13 team. All Y7 boys will attend. It will be great to see how they get on playing in their own age category.

Match Report

To mark the end of a busy week, the U12 boys travelled to Leicester Grammar School for the U12 Rugby 7s. The weather was eventually kind to us and dried up in time for kick off. St Hugh’s pool consisted of: Lutterworth High School, Leicester Grammar School and Wisbech Grammar. Our first game against Lutterworth, the St Hugh’s boys came out excited to play and very quickly took the lead with some well worked tries. Some missed tackles allowed Lutterworth in for a try, finishing the game 10-5. We then faced our hosts Leicester Grammar. St Hugh’s momentum continued into the second game and the boys quickly took the lead with some great ball handling and running into space. Leicester were unable to catch the four try lead and the final score finished 20-10. Our final pool game, we were up against Wisbech who had also won their other two games. St Hugh’s again got off to a good start opening their try account. Wisbech came back with some strong ball carriers. St Hugh’s quickly learnt to move the ball into space and avoid going into contact. This allowed the boys to widen the score gap, finishing the game 25-15 resulting in the boys finishing top of their pool. This meant that St Hugh’s went through to the Cup competition. This saw us drawn against Stamford, Wisbech and King's Grantham.
