The Tail of the Plastic Whale

THE TAIL OF THE PLASTIC WHALE

Year 1 wanted to raise awareness of plastic pollution in the seas and oceans and how this is affecting sea creatures. To do this they have created a plastic sculpture of a whale’s tail outside the headmaster’s office which is filled with one week’s worth of plastic used by 20 families in Year 1.

Plastic pollution is a very real and present danger to all our marine creatures. It is estimated that 100 million marine creatures are killed every year as a result of plastic pollution in the oceans and seas. If all this plastic came from Year 1, imagine how much waste do we generate as a whole school? Could you reduce the plastic you use to save the whales?
