Results:

  • U11 Boys - 3rd Place
  • U11 Girls - 2nd Place

The Cross Country season got underway on Wednesday in our opening race at Witham Hall. With a group of twelve U9 and sixteen U11 runners, St Hugh’s were out in full force!

The U11s face a tough two lap course which is quite a step up, particularly for our Year 5 runners.

St Hugh’s performed well across the board, with many of our runners just missing out on medal positions (top 6). Congratulations to Beau, who was presented with a medal for finishing in the top 6 - a great achievement as our youngest U11 runner!

Our U11 Girls put out a sterling effort finishing as runners up! It was great to see half the team made up of Year 5 runners which should stand us in good stead next year. Our counters included Year 5 pupil, Harriet T (7th), Genevieve (9th), Year 5 pupil Faith (10th) and Arabella (15th). Coco was right behind Arabella (16th) with Penelope close by in 18th. Verity and Annabelle (both Year 5) also tackled this course finishing in close proximity to one another. A fabulous team effort to achieve an outstanding 2nd place!

The U11 Boys took to the start line having watched the girls face the tough two lap course. This did not put them off and it was great to see them running hard to work their way forward in the pack. Beau was the first to emerge for St Hugh’s and had a super run. Competition was tough in this race so to achieve a top 6 place was commendable. Following Beau, as our second finisher, was Rory P (9th) who displayed great form throughout. Our third home was Year 5 runner, Edward R (10th). Edward had a fabulous run today and should be very proud of his efforts. Seb came in as our fourth St Hugh’s counter (15th) giving us a team score of 39 (just two points behind second place). Joshua, Edward J, Gio and Miles also completed this course showing grit and determination. A solid effort from the U11 boys.

Well done to all runners - you demonstrated great resilience and we look forward to seeing you compete on Friday!
