U11A Team

Result: D 9-9

The U11A team was captained by Kitty W this week. We faced a strong side from Lincoln Minster and it turned out to be a closely fought game with some tense moments, especially in the final quarter! The first quarter saw the St Hugh’s side have the majority of possession with some great movement up court. Our ball placement let us down at times resulting in some turnovers but the girls worked hard for one another. We led 2-1 in the first quarter with two goals from Annabelle J. The team adapted well to new positions and the second quarter was end to end. India added to the scoresheet and we went into half-time confident. The second half was just as exciting, with St Hugh’s beginning to work better as a team when transitioning the ball through the court. Jemima put in a shift and was a key play maker this week. It was great to see her signalling confidently for the ball and timing her run well. By the final quarter, LMS led by one but the girls were determined to equalise, which they did, to draw the match 9-9! A super game, well done!

U11B Team

Result: W 6-0

The U11B team faced two teams from Lincoln Minster this week, playing the first two quarters against the Minster B team and the second two quarters against the Minster Cs. The team opened strongly and were up at the end of the first quarter after some excellent scoring from Alicia. Further impressive goals from Charlotte J in the second quarter meant that the girls secured a 6-0 victory against the first team. It was good to see the girls using more of the court in the final two quarters, as play was very much down one side of the court in the first half; whilst not such a high-scoring half, the team still secured a well-deserved win. It was a great way to finish the first half of term as, not only was it good to see the girls now so confident playing every position - and making the transitions so seamlessly - but it was also lovely to have a home fixture and therefore so many parents able to support. Well done everyone!
