Match Report

Result: Lost convincingly

St Hugh’s U13 girls played a Year 8 team from Witham Hall and, unfortunately, it was not an even contest. After five goals within the first five minutes the coach, Mr Goodhand, stopped counting and we took the game as a learning experience. We grew into the game, particularly Camilla in goal and she ended up being awarded Girl of the Game from the opposition. The features of the game we looked at during half-time to implement in the second half were generally implemented and so it was a useful exercise. We’ll need to draw on this experience as we’ll be playing similar teams at IAPS in a few weeks. A pleasing aspect was that the girls’ heads did not go down and they kept on battling. As a parent reflected afterwards, it was a character building game and an opportunity to learn to lose graciously.
