Match Report

Result: 5 - 40 L

The boys were back in town as we welcomed Kings to the home of great rugby, St Hugh’s. Following the difficult week last week the boys needed to bounce back, showing some of the great character that we have in our squad. Kings won the toss and opted to receive the kick. Both teams came out with a BANG! Literally the collisions were strong and you could feel both teams wanted this game. Kings managed to keep a lot of possession leaving St Hugh’s no option but to do a lot of defending. Eventually through some good handling and stretching the St Hugh’s defence, Kings squeezed through for the first scores. St Hugh’s responded with a well executed try of their own. A few handling errors brought with them scrums. St Hugh’s were strong in this set piece securing their own ball whilst also stealing some of Kings. Before the half-time whistle Kings again, with some good handling, managed to secure a couple of more tries. St Hugh’s identified a few things they needed to work on and took to the field for the second-half. The rugby in the second-half was intense, bigger tackles and ball steals from St Hugh’s. Impressive ball handling and lines of running from Kings. Kings still had a lot of the ball but St Hugh’s did not let that phase them, defending like Trojans they managed to hold up two tries. All the boys on the field delighted us with a spectacle of rugby and for that we thank you. Some great grit and determination out there and everyone should be proud of their efforts. Well done.
