Results:

  • U9 Girls - 3rd Place
  • U9 Boys - 4th Place

The Cross Country season got underway on Wednesday in our opening race at Witham Hall. With a group of twelve U9 and sixteen U11 runners, St Hugh’s were out in full force!

The course at Witham sees the U9s complete one lap around the Witham sports pitches and grounds. T

Though we did not feature much in the individual presentations, it was great to have three out of four St Hugh’s teams place as top 3 schools (with our U9 Boys finishing 4th).

First up was the U9 Girls’ race. We had four Y4s racing who were joined by Valentina and Lucy F following a time trial in PE last week. This was great experience for them and will hopefully have prepared them well for Brooke Priory where they will race against their own year group. Hollie set the pace as the pack leader and maintained this well until near the end when she struggled a little with her chest. Our four counters were Year 3 pupil Valentina (7th), Cecily (11th), Year 3 pupil Lucy (15th) and Annie (19th). Abi crossed the line shortly after in 22nd place. A fantastic 3rd place for the U9 Girls!

The U9 Boys also performed well finishing 4th overall as a team. It was Charlie who crossed the line first for St Hugh’s (10th) followed very closely by Ralph (12th) and Freddie (14th). Year 3 pupil, Albie, was our final counter (27th). Joshua (Year 3) and Harry also tackled this course and ran well.

Well done to all runners - you demonstrated great resilience and we look forward to seeing you compete on Friday!
